BEST DAY OF SHOOTING YET!

This was without a doubt the best day of shooting we have ever had. The shoot this time was held on the property of my good friend Sherri Jones who had told me we could hold our shoot there. You just could not have asked for a better venue.

I got there first and unloaded the tables and chairs that our hosts had provided. As I drove them down to the shooting area I was greeted by three huge turkeys that are one of three groups that live on the property. Dan showed up with his friend Dave who had flown in from Washington State the day before. Soon everyone was arriving and marveling at the beauty of the property. Words just can't describe it. We set up the tables under a grove of live oaks and began unloading our guns. Above. Matt poses with his arsenal.

We had an almost unlimited field of fire. Dave Enoch showed up with the targets and we set about laying them out to 100 yards using David's range-finder.  Then we got down to the serious business of shooting. I shot the .50 cal. a lot and I think everyone took a turn with it. I also got reacquainted with the TX200. I would say we had around 50 or 60 guns to choose from which is always nice.

What made this such a great day was not only the beautiful property but we had a large group this time. Dan Nelson opened the shoot up to anyone who wanted to come and we had about 15 guys show up including my son and nephew. Roald and John had driven down from Gainesville. Steve and Bryan could not make this shoot but I hope they can make the next one.

This property is in west Fort Worth and is situated against Mary's Creek. I have been going there on Sunday morning's for the last two months to fish. It is so beautiful there in the early morning. So some guys brought their fishing rods and spent a little time wetting their lines. Above is my nephew Tim trying his luck. He actually had a good size bass on the line but it took his lure before he could get it in. Those shooting took a few breaks to reset the targets.

Halfway through the day our host showed up with FRESH COOKIES and Dave talked her into shooting his rifle. She stayed and chatted while we all thanked her profusely for allowing us to use her property. I can never articulate how nice Sherri is so I won't try; except to say she is everyone's mother and was very gracious.  She had errands to run and left after a few minutes.

The area we were shooting in had a wonderful patio to set up our charcoal grills. There was way too much food and none went home hungry. Right in the middle of eating, Matt showed up with a huge bluegill he had caught. There were no takers for fresh fish so he let it go back in the creek.

After eating...it was back to shooting. I think that everyone had a great time popping off their guns and visiting. The shear beauty of the place added to the enjoyment. This has to go down as the best shoot we have had yet.
